REFLECTIONS |

How truly blessed we are to be living in a society that is generally quite safe, clean, and financially well-off, and that we basically have a choice in the kind of life which we wish to lead! Of course, each of us may have problems concerning these issues to some degree. However, comparing our lot in life with that of peoples throughout the world, we are very fortunate indeed. And to have such rich, natural abundance all around us on the Kanto Plain, with several mountain chains and ocean fronts, stirs up a graciousness in me concerning this miracle of life. It remains JAMBO’s hope to share this graciousness and experience this miracle of nature with as many people as possible. Unfortunately, many people around the world are unable to get into touch with these wonders, for a whole host of reasons. Please try to imagine for a moment that the place where you live is slowly becoming a desert. Whatever little brush and few animals were around are disappearing and you have no idea what to do. Or your child is slowly dying because the only water available is so polluted. Imagine that you have a dream to help restore the environment or to help people break out of that vicious cycle of poverty; however, because of financial constraints, you feel that there is nothing you can do. Coming from a land of plenty, we have the means to assist people who are in these dire situations (and have a responsibility to do so), and many of us wish to do something but have no idea how to help. Through your kind donations to JAMBO, you become a part of the solution to these problems. Your money goes to organizations which support environmental restoration, sustainable development, and to people who are directly on the ground working in this area or training to do so. In this sense, YOU are helping to make the world a better place as well as helping to make people’s dreams come true, by providing financial support. At the same time as you are experiencing the joys of being in nature or meeting people from all different walks of life, you are enabling others to empower themselves and create the kind of lives which they long for. What a WIN-WIN SITUATION!!! In future writings, these groups and people will be described in more detail. Feel free to look at http://www.geocities.jp/jambodave2004jp/2005revenueexpend.html to see how JAMBO’s funds were used in 2005 (where they came from and for what purposes and groups/peoples they were used for). None of our activities would be possible without your active participation. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. David Howenstein (Jambo International Center) jambodave2003@ybb.ne.jp |
