ENVIRONMENTAL INTEGRATION ? This is the keyword of JAMBO.  As individuals feel more integrated internally, they seek to create the same in the external environments (social and natural). In the same way, improvement in the external environments encourage spiritual growth and contentment.  This creates a “cycle of benevolence.”  JAMBO has now been in existence for 10 years and has now focused its activities to work on bettering these three parts of the environment (internal, social, and natural) consistently, offering a variety of programs each month.

   In an average month, JAMBO organizes and/or participates in 2 hiking events, 2 charity parties, 1 environmental restoration event, and 1 spiritual event.  In addition to these events which are open to everyone, JAMBO holds a monthly English class at the Sayuri no Ryo Children’s Home.

   There is a fee charged for the hiking events and the charity parties.  Most of the money raised at these events are used to support environmental protection and less advantaged people abroad (mostly in Southern/Eastern Africa) through our donations to groups working in these areas.  We try to support groups which try to integrate these 2  issues so that society and nature can benefit simultaneously.  The other portion of the money is used to support the above-mentioned Children’s Home where JAMBO is active.

   The environmental restoration events are of two kinds.  JAMBO organizes events that deal with ocean or river clean-ups.  Events which deal with tree replanting, path-making, and restoring the environment through getting rid of undesirable plants in order to bring back the forests natural biodiversity are held by various environmental groups in the Kanto Plain, and JAMBO invites its members to take part in these activities.

   The spirituality events have also been held by JAMBO in the past.  However, at the current time, we simply provide opportunities for people to go to a variety of spirituality functions.  JAMBO is not a religious group and does not claim to know what’s right for the individual spiritually.  On the contrary, we believe that each individual is responsible for taking care of his/her own spirituality, and simply wish to provide a variety of spiritually-nurturing venues where the individual can feel uninhibited and safe to make his/her own search.

   JAMBO is always on the lookout for people interested in volunteering with these activities.  Translators, party organizers/clean-up people, and planners for new events are especially in need.  Contact JAMBO if interested.
